About the Coach
IM Joshua Posthuma
Classes are taught by International Master and 3-time Michigan State Champion Joshua Posthuma. With a USCF rating of 2530, Joshua is in the US Top 75 players. Joshua has over 8 years of experience teaching chess in individual and group settings, and has taught many of Michigan's top scholastic talent.
The Advanced Class will focus on:
- Advanced Tactical Patterns & Calculation
- Forming a plan based on imbalances
- Advanced Endgame Strategy
- Famous Game Analysis (Bobby Fischer, Magnus Carlsen, etc.)
Students will also have 30 minutes to play games against each other, and each student will have one of their games reviewed by the coach in every class.
